Diljit Dosanjh made an epic entry at the 2025 Met Gala. Despite it being star-studded and chaotic, a lot of attention was directed at him because of his incredible contemporary meets Punjabi attire. Diljit was dressed by a well-known designer who included a ceremonial sword design as a symbolic inclusion in the outfit, as well as a lot of details in the embroidery. This outfit was such a great addition to the Met Gala, and Diljit specifically, because it honored his Sikh heritage.

THEME

The Met Gala 2025 kept the theme of "Superfine: Refining Black Style" while focusing on the tradition of Black dandyism. The idea was to make us rethink the value of fitted clothing in an entirely new way, while showcasing the depth and inventiveness of Black style. The purpose of the event was to draw attention to the cultural relevance of Black Men's style and the direction it has taken global fashion trends.

The Met Gala 2025 kept the theme of "Superfine: Refining Black Style" while focusing on the tradition of Black dandyism. The idea was to make us rethink the value of fitted clothing in an entirely new way, while showcasing the depth and inventiveness of Black style. The purpose of the event was to draw attention to the cultural relevance of Black Men's style and the direction it has taken global fashion trends.


The dress code was "Tailored for You" and encouraged tailored-made suits with the appropriate fit. Clothing, paintings, and photographs depicting the evolution of Black men's fashion from the 18th to the present were displayed.

DESIGNER

An established designer, Prabal Gurung, designed Diljit's Met Gala look. The custom-made outfit also paid respect to his roots by showcasing a cape stamped with the map of Punjab, with gold embroidery covering the historical detail. Gurung combined high-fashion tailoring and historical maps and motifs to showcase something original and memorable on the red carpet. The garment shows the rich cultural heritage of Punjab. It was made in India with assembly from a commitment of 50 artisans and large amounts of hand needlework.

The styling of Diljit's hair and make-up gave him a very regal look. A sarpech was done on his turban in the traditional way; it was styled in a regal way. He was painted in the right makeup to have a strong presence on the red carpet. Victor Robinson, working with Prabal Gurung, assisted with styling and meaning to achieve a whole and culturally inclusive look.

Diljit's wristwatch was a rose-gold Cartier, and a jewel-encrusted kirpan topped the look. The plume feather that came attached to the hat added a royal touch. With the richness and depth of both the modern design language and Punjabi cultural heritage, these accessories contributed to the depth and authenticity of the overall Maharaja look. The styling detail marked the significance of each piece in conveying a Punjabi royal royalty.

At the 2025 Met Gala, Diljit Dosanjh honored Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala. His look consisted of a diamond-encrusted turban and a striking layered diamond neckpiece, exclusively designed by Golecha Jewels of Jaipur. Diljit's wristwatch was a rose-gold Cartier, and a jewel-encrusted kirpan topped the look.


The plume feather that came attached to the turban added a royal touch.
