Off The Record returns to Gaijin for its second edition this month, a mid-week vinyl ritual where the restaurant shifts into a slower, more intentional rhythm. Conceptualised by partners Chef Anand Morwani, Rohan Mangalorkar, and Karan Gaba, the experience celebrates Gaijin's deep love for vinyl not as décor, but as a way of listening. A reminder that music should be felt, not scrolled past.

For this edition on November 19, the night is shaped by two artists who understand the poetry of vinyl: Dreamstates and BlurrySlur.

Gaijin Vinyl Nights

Dreamstates: A Genre-Fluid Exploration

The night brings 2 artists taking over the deck, Dreamstates brings a wide-ranging, genre-fluid approach shaped by nearly two decades of deep listening and exploration. His sets move effortlessly through pumping house, emergent techno, jagged breaks, and sensitive IDM, always threaded with a sense of curiosity and emotional depth. A resident on Boxout.FM and a regular at India's biggest alternative festivals, Dreamstates carries a signature sound that cuts through the mix without ever needing to announce itself.

BlurrySlur: Groove, Rhythm & Underground Craft

BlurrySlur offers a complementary but distinctly groove-driven pulse. Rooted in the worlds of deep tech, minimal, jackin house, and warm, emotive 4x4 rhythms, his sets are fluid, playful, and instinctive, often weaving between disco edits, acid touches, garage swing, and broken two-step. A fixture across India's festival and club circuit from Sunburn to Time Out, he brings years of underground craft to the room.

Together, they build a night designed for deep, intentional listening powered by Gaijin Radio and its rare Donley sound system, a handcrafted analog setup that turns every track into a tactile experience.

Gaijin Tokyo Alleyway

Tokyo-Inspired Alleyway

Beyond the main room, Gaijin's alleyway comes alive in a wash of neon and nostalgia. Think Tokyo's backstreets: Rakugaki graffiti, Kawaii doodles, film posters, and flashes of Nihonga art, all circling a brand-new outdoor bar where conversations hum and cocktails flow.

Signature Cocktails

Here, Don Julio takes over the evening's pour, pairing the city's best beats with equally inventive drinks. Sip on Soft Launch, a delicate swirl of Mahura, bitter rosso, cherry blossom, shio koji, chamomile, and Peychaud's bitters, or dive into Midnight in Roppongi, where shiso-infused whisky meets apricot liqueur and an acid twist.

Gaijin Bandra Cocktails

Other highlights include Gari & The Grape (a tequila-sake number that's both fresh and nostalgic), Gaijin G&T (a citrus-forward remix on the classic, with in-house tonic and sweet lime air), Shinjuku Suite (a gin-based ode to Tokyo's nightlife), and Gochu Gang, a bold vodka-mirin concoction with a signature Gochujang kick.
