Kiyosaki completed his schooling at Hilo High School in Hawaii, faced academic challenges, but because of his high aptitude in standardized tests, he got admission into the United States Merchant Marine Academy in New York, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1969. After college, he served US Marine Corps as a helicopter gunship pilot during the Vietnam War.  His early life was shaped between the teachings of his biological father (Poor Dad) and his childhood friend’s father (Rich Dad), whose lessons became the foundation for Kiyosaki’s shift in mindset towards money.
