Created in 1937 for the coronation of King George VI and based on Queen Victoria’s 1838 crown, this is the crown the monarch wears after coronation and at major state events like the State Opening of Parliament. It weighs 2.3 lbs (1.06 kg) and contains 2,868 diamonds, 17 sapphires, 11 emeralds, 269 pearls, and 5 rubies. The centrepiece is the 317-carat Cullinan II diamond (Second Star of Africa), along with the historic Black Prince’s Ruby (a large spinel), Stuart Sapphire, and St Edward’s Sapphire. It symbolizes British sovereignty with its closed arches.

2. Greville Emerald Kokoshnik Tiara

Made in 1919 by Boucheron in striking Art Deco style for society hostess Dame Margaret Greville, this platinum kokoshnik tiara features seven large cabochon Colombian emeralds surrounded by rose-cut diamonds. Bequeathed to the Queen Mother in 1942 and later to Queen Elizabeth II, it was first publicly worn by Princess Eugenie at her 2018 wedding. Queen Camilla has also worn it on state occasions. Its bold geometric design and rare emeralds make it one of the most extravagant and valuable tiaras in the collection.

3. Delhi Durbar Tiara

Commissioned by Queen Mary in 1911 from Garrard for the Delhi Durbar, the grand coronation celebrations in India, this delicate yet regal tiara features a central emerald drop surrounded by intricate diamond work. It was designed to be worn with matching emerald or diamond jewelry from the Delhi Durbar parure. Queen Mary wore it in 1911, and Queen Camilla has revived it for modern state banquets. 4. Cullinan III and IV Brooch (Granny’s Chips)

These two magnificent diamonds were cut from the legendary 3,106-carat Cullinan diamond discovered in South Africa in 1905. Cullinan III (94.4 carats, pear-shaped) and Cullinan IV (63.6 carats, cushion-cut) were gifted to Queen Mary and later inherited by Queen Elizabeth II, who affectionately called them “Granny’s Chips.” She often wore the pair as a brooch on her shoulder or as a pendant. They remain among the largest and most flawless diamonds in the royal collection.

5. Grand Duchess Vladimir Tiara

Originally owned by Grand Duchess Maria Pavlovna of Russia, this exquisite diamond fringe tiara was smuggled out of Russia after the 1917 Revolution. Queen Mary purchased it in 1921 and had it adapted so that the diamond drops could be replaced with emeralds from the Cambridge suite. Queen Elizabeth II wore it frequently throughout her reign, often with either pearls or emeralds. One of the most versatile and romantic pieces in the collection, it carries both Romanov and British royal history.
